Hi everybody,
First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Fr. Paul Weisbeck. I have been coming up to Sumner/Orting the last three years to help Fr. Jack with Holy Week celebrations. Most of my service has been at SS. Cosmas and Damian in Orting. This year I was asked to cover both parishes for Fr. Jack while he is in France. So he gets to enjoy fine French wine, wonderful fresh baguettes, and beautiful Churches and Museums. I get to enjoy terrific Western Washington Fog, very Green trees, and a terrific view of Mt. Rainier.
So about me. I have been ordained 44 years and have been retired since July 2010. I am a priest of the Diocese San Jose, CA. I live in a retirement complex called the Villages in southeast San Jose. The complex has two golf courses, four pools and spas and about 150 deer. It is a great place to live.
I have spent my whole priestly ministry serving in parishes. I love parish life and work. I have been privileged to be pastor of three very different parishes in San Jose over the years. In one of them , Holy Spirit, I built and helped develop a parish school. It was a very expensive operation but it was also very exciting.
I love to preach. I consider myself a story teller, as Jesus was. I find that I can best share the Gospel by telling stories and relating experiences. I am very family centered. And, truth to tell, I use my family experiences of growing up a lot in my homilies. Fortunately my family lives a long way away so I don’t have to worry about being corrected in my memories.
I am looking forward to meeting you in the weeks ahead. It is a real pleasure for me to be here and pray with you over the rest of the month. Please come up and say hi when we meet at Church. I may not remember your name, I am old, but I will remember your face. God Bless.
Fr. Paul
